One thing to keep in mind is that the 1st gen 4R is not exactly quiet even without the exhaust noise. But I'm planning on removing the 40 for something quieter in mine.

Anyone using the Magnaflows 18? They are supposed to perform very well with a noise level close to stock.

EDIT:

Ooops. Should have read thru the earlier posts again.

I was reading a site that had measured the noise levels from various mufflers. The top performer for HP and low noise was Borla, but they are expensive. The Magnaflows came in a close second for half the cost. The Hooker FlowMax (?) did very well too. The FlowMaster 40 were one of the noisier models. The 50's were not tested.

you actually pulled over with a cat and a glasspack wtf shouldnt be loud at all. cops must hate aftermarket exhaust. when i was driving my ram with a v8 i usally drove with no cat and a flowmaster 40 and it was LOUD, sometimes i even didnt even have the exhaust on it was stupid loud and cops never pulled me over.

i have a flowmaster not sure what model it is but it drones on the highway like crazy. i did the peel and seal thing last sat. and its helped alot. but i want to quiet it down alot more. im going to do the hood next along with a sound dampening material on top of the peel and seal under the rug and door pannels.
