Pushed rear wiper back up and now the window won't move, relay clicking

After turning on the rear wiper, then off again and having it not go back into position, I pushed it back into its place to roll the window down and open the tail gate. Now the tailgate window doesn't budge. I noticed before I even tried to roll the window down while the wiper was out of position and I put the key in the ignition that something was making a clicking sound. It turned out to be the relay. The window has had a hard time going back up for a while now as well. I read the write up on replacing the relays and it sounds like it will probably be the fix, however, could I have screwed something else up when I pushed the rear wiper up, like some sort of contact switch in the wiper unit itself, or is there such thing?

I will replace the relay for the window motors for sure after reading the write up ' cause man I hate helping the window up... these tailgates are Toyota's biggest design flaw ever in my experiences! Which is still pretty damn good compared to other makes.

There is a switch in the wiper assembly, if the wiper doesn`t go all the way up to the park position the window won`t operate.

Thanks, I kind of figured there would be a switch. Hopefully I didn't burn anything out.

The rear wiper is the only thing on this 4runner I've never dissambled. Should be fun, maybe I'll install the rear spoiler with LED brake light that I got off a special edition 4runner while I'm there... more work!

If you unplug the wiper harness where you take the top off, that will allow the window to work, if everything else is right.

It turned out that the shaft for the wiper was seized. so I took the assembley apart, cleaned off the corrosion, greased it up, put it back together and everything worked.

I greased/lubed up the whole tailgate and it didn't help the window go up or down any better, so I'm going to bring my relay into the electronics store and get them to change the relays for me. Hopefully that will make the difference, since the motor seems ok and so do the gear teeth.
