my pic under my name is 32x11.5 with no lift or anything, they rubbed a little bit so if your going 33's id recommend a lift, hopefully someone will help a lot more than I can.

Thanks It did help me quite a bit. I just bought 15x10 Chevy rims and can't decide whether to put 33's or stick with 31's but I would have to buy wider ones to fit on the new rims

31's will run better on the road, but if you got those wheels man you should get the 33's on it,
I wish I had 10" rims I think mine or 8 or 9 I don't remember
when I put the 32's on the stock rims, I had to cut some of my lower bumber and hammer up the pinch weld's behind the front tires and they rub alittle still, so if you run a 2 inch lift I think yull be ok,

A 33x10.5 tire will fit on factory rims or 15x8" rim w/ 3.75" backspacing without any mods.
With a 2" lift and rims with the correct backspacing, you should have no issues fitting a 33x12.5 tire. If anything, you might have to do some minor trimming/hammering, but I doubt it. A 15x8" rim w/ 3.75" backspacing is ideal. I'd recommend the 33x10.5 over the 33x12.5, just because of the better handling on the streets. However, they're a bit harder to find.
I would not put a 31x10.5" tire on a 10" wide rim. Most recommend an 8" or smaller rim width for that size tire. Also, with a 10" wide rim, you can't air down the tire as much for better traction (even with a 33x12.5 tire). Unless you buy from Interco, you will not find a 31" tire that's wider than 10.5".
I have a 1.5" lift with 32" tires on 15x10" rims w/ 4" backspacing. My tires rub the fenders almost at full lock. I did not have to trim my valance. If I had rims with the right backspacing, I could easily fit a 33x12.5 tire. Click on my build thread to see pics of my truck.
I bought my rims from a guy who had them on a chevy truck, so I'd assume yours have the same backspacing.

Ok wow that helped alot! You got me thinking about 32's now and after seeing the fit ment on your build thread I think that's a better option, but would I still have to regear if I had 32's?

a buddy of mine had 33's and a 4" lift and they fit nicely, and ran fine, slower than stock tires but not obscenely so

I have the 3.0L V6 with the factory 4.30 gears and it is a bit sluggish. I have 4.88 gears ready to go in if I ever go to 33s. But for 32s, 4.30 gears are bearable. I'd say if you have like 4.10 gears or the 22r-e engine, you'll want to regear. And if you do regear, you might as well just go up to 33" tires. If you have factory 4.56 gears or 4.88 gears, you're good to go.

I have reason to believe you don't have 4.88 gears from the factory. Factory 4.88 gears are rare and they mainly came in 2nd gen 3.0L automatic 4Runners. It's best to check your door code

93 with 2" OME lift - Dakar leafs, BJ spacers, stock shackles and stock tbars.
33x12.5x15 Toyos on 15x8-3.75" wheels. 22re/5spd/4.88s
Minor front bumper trim and trim/pound pinch weld.
No swaybar and no rubbing at full lock/full compression except slightly in rear due to extra articulation from triangulated shocks, stock length shackles and no bump stops.
Sits level at 22.5" from center of axle to bottom of fender lip f/r.
Stance is perfect IMO with just enough room to clear everything with minimal lifting. Tires stick out past fenders around 1-2" and have maybe 3/8" between upper control arms. I would personally NOT do 10" wide wheel unless has a much taller or much wider tire or risk wheel damage, decreased turn radius, more leverage on axles, and sticking out like 3" on each side. Also the sidewall and wheel surface would be close to flush so risk easier popping of bead on trail besides scraping that wheel to hell. 12.5" is perfect on a 8-9" wide wheel and is what most manufacturers recommend for their products. 12.5" tires easier to find in stock everywhere too.
