My new $700 Toyota Pickup!!!

I had a good chunk of cash for a downpayment on a brand new tacoma. But when I went to list my 94' for sale, I just couldn't do it. With 105k on the clock and almost zero rust on the cab, it's got so much life left. But keeping (2) 4-cyl trucks around the house, one with a $300/month payment doesn't make financial sense either. I decided to keep the 94. I think its built better than a new taco anyway.

The 94' does need some work and improvement. It'll need to come off the road for some of this so I needed a beater in the meantime. I was looking at corollas, civics, but I just didn't like where that was going. I live on top of a mountain and haul stuff around all the time - but all the toyotas I saw either sucked or were too much $$$.

Then yesterday I saw this 94' reg cab automatic for sale on cragislist down in albany with 160k miles. The guy wanted $700. I called him up and he said he'd had 30 phone calls in the first hour. Not to be beaten, I got $700 out of the bank and left from my house at 4:45am this morning on my gf's motorcycle. Got there, paid the man, threw the bike in the back and that's it. Here's my new rig:

The body is pretty rusty but the frame is fine. Interior is dirty but a quick wash and it'll be in great shape.

It runs awesome, much nicer ride than my other truck (stock tires, t bars not cranked) and believe it or not its kinda fun driving a toyota with an automatic!
I'll be throwing some winter tires on it ASAP (30x9.5??) and stealing some parts, but other than that this one's just getting driven and neglected. I don't think it will mind at all.

Awesome find for $700!!!! Congrats
yea 30x950 are fine, BFG All Terrain TA KO's my brand of choice for 4x4 since my first toy in 96. Had same size on 97 cherokee, My brother has 235x75 BFG's sizes on his 86 SR-5 4x4 xtra cab for almost 15 years never missed a day of work and we live in part of Indiana that gets it's far share of snow thanks to lake affect, some want big wide heavy flotation tires, I go with plowing a groove through the snow, and if it snows to much to drive through it I just stay home and less money on gas that the huge tires take and the abuse to suspension. Weekend play toy I would go bigger, but DD, nope...

Enjoy new toy!!!!

I have BFG A/T's on my "nice" truck 32x11.5 (for summers - duratracs for winter).

I think the A/T does fine in powder /packed powder but for crud and ice I want more siping. I'm thinking Cooper's regular old M&S Discovery will be a good cheap snow tire for this rig.

I'm actually thinking about throwing a 6' snowway plow on this little guy - but that's a discussion for another day.

Nice ride for $700.

I'm impressed your girlfriend rides a crotch rocket.

That's a steal! I've been eyeing an old 87 extended cab that's been parked down the road from my parents house and hasn't moved since I've been back east that I might try to pick up before winter.

But I digress, $700 damn, what was the guy asking? Or did he just have it for sale for $700?

Its actually sweet! Although I jam the brake with my left foot forgetting its not a clutch. Very smooth combo and with tires 4" smaller than my others it doesn't feel gutless at all (has 4.30's also I think).

Nice ride for $700.

yeah shes a keeper. She helped me 'build' that bike. Its a gsxr front end on an sv 650 with pearl white ducait paint. So really only 1/2 a rocket.

He was asking $700. The body is terrible so while its a good deal there will be work involved. The 4 cross members for the bed are all there but you can put your put through the sheet metal. It hauled a 450lb wood furnace home yesterday alright though. Still - probably a candidate for a wooden bed.

Nice truck! I had a '93 xtra-cab 4wd auto. It couldn't do much on the highway, but was great around town.

Apparently in casper they ride everything - probably horses and bulls too. That is a cool place haven't been there in 10 years but I've always dreamed of moving out if I could find a job.
