I was able to get the hitch off fairly easy, i thought it was going to be alot harder. I also painted and mounted the bumper, i'll get pics soon.

dammit, im about ready to say bye to the factory swingout and buy a marlin bumper. I just don't want to have to look at the bolt holes in the corner. Ugh. Or i might modify the damn bumper and make it work for the truck.

is it just me, or do the D-Ring mounts on the MC bumper in the pictures above look really... thin...

I still like the bumper, but I just noticed how little metal there is around the hole...

yea the d ring mounts are a little small. i personally havent used them yet, i use ad ring on a ball hitch.

to cut the body i used some aviation snips. make sure there sharp or else your life will suck. i did the same to cut the front skirt. just attach 2 bolts to the bumper to the frame so it pivots, then bring the bumper up to see where you need to cut. then cut away!

Mine came with zero hardware, but I didn't mind buying a few bolts and nuts.

...awaiting pics! I am strongly leaning towards the MC bumper for my 2nd gen but am a picture person. Unsure how it bolts underneath (I have no hitch). Also, I read that you should do a small weld/bead on the body?

I pulled a bunch of times with my MC rear bumper. The D-Ring holes never failed me. I had front and rear MC bumpers on my 92, and plan to have the same on my next runner. My only complaint was no D-Ring mounts on the front...

reasons why you should buy a marlin crawler rear bumper...

...mine...

...his...

picture taken after we pulled the fender and grill out of the wheel well and off tire... was about a foot further back.

tonight we were doin some snow wheelin up in the mountains and it had a good 4-5 inches of powder plus a layer of ice under it on the road... anywho, we were goin a little faster than we should have been, drifting (lol) around the s-turns, i started to slide a little more than i liked and for some reason tapped the brakes (its a no-no on ice) and slid off the road into about 3 feet of powder at bout 25-30... that was all fine up untill i felt the Mitsubishi montaro follow right behind, crunch!

damage report-

MINE- tail gait slightly dented, rear bumper has small kink and slid on frame a little, and mysteriously blew the right head light

HIS-ripped through grill, crunched right headlight, tore through radiator, kinked hood in half, kinked right fender in half, ripped out right front body mount (sheared bolt), crunched plastic fan into peices, and charcol canister is somehow on top of engine now. luckily his engine wasn't damaged and was only leaking coolant... (note: he bought the truck 3 days ago)

lesson 1-slow down on ice and snow!

lesson 2-make sure the driver behind you has room between ya

lesson 3-Marlin Crawlers rear bumper saved my truck! thank you marlin crawler...you should be very proud to know it maybe kinked the bumper a 1/2 inch forward... damn i got lucky!
