Leaf Spring Compatibility

Hey I've got a broken rear leaf in my 1987 Pickup and rather than just replacing the leaf or the whole block I want to put in a 3 inch lift with new springs. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if the leaf springs designed for the early 80's gen./the early 90's gen. are compatible or if they're all mounted differently in different spots. I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me what's involved with doing a 3inch suspension lift - new shocks, shackles, brake lines or if I can get away with just unbolting what's there and replacing it.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Awesome, I'm looking at a set of 3" leafs on ebay but it says 79-83 but other listings say 79-88 so I wasn't sure.
