knock sensor connector

we're in the process of hooking up a remanned 3.0 in an 88 4runner but can't find where the round female knock sensor connector connects to the harness?

it was already disconnected/partially disassembled when we got the truck so we have nothing to go by?

Does anyone have a picture of the engine bay near the firewall/exhaust x-over that might show this connector?

Thanks.

Look near the fuel injector clips for the driver side of the engine. It should be near those connectors as the Knock Sensor Wire should come up between the head and lower intake by the #4 cylinder injector.

will do.

the lead on the knock sensor is barely long enough to allow it to clear the cross-over pipe...in fact it doesn't clear it...it merely sits at the bottom of the intake manifold.

is there an intermediate 'pig-tail' that extends this to the wiring harness?

there is a small round connector in the location you mentioned (about the size of a chapstick tube) but its not even close to reaching and I think its a bit smaller than what looks like might connect into the knock sensor wire lead...but I'm only speculating from memory...

thanks.

The wire for the knock sensor on mine came out to just past the fuel rail, but the wiring on mine does not look original. The wire from the harness comes off the harness near the back of the engine if I remember correctly, just check every connector within a foot or so of the injectors as there should only be one that will connect. I will be removing the intake to fix a leak on mine so I will try to remove the Throttle Body tonight and get some pics of the wiring tonight.

On mine the connector is directly under the TB.

does it come up through the head/manifold joint? or out the back under the manifold?

The sensor wire is between the intake and head, under the throttle body. There is a slot in the head specifically made for the wire.

The connector is on the wire harness with the injectors on the drivers side.

The groove for the wire is between the #4 and #6 intake ports and will have to be put in place before the intake manifold gaket. If you look you will probably see the opening where the wire should come out.

I was not able to remove the intake last night due to rain and having to work outside but it will be done Saturday. If you have not gotten it done before then I will get some pics up then. If you need pics of anything else, let me know.

I'm pretty sure I know the spot you're referring to.

Thanks for the help.
