you mentioned "I could use my original T-case". are you needing to swap your transmission at the same time as your motor?
if you're hoping to swap your original transfer onto the trans that came with you're jdm motor, you're in for a fairly in depth job. to remove your original transfer case off your're a340h, you have to strip the trans to seperate it from the transfer. not sure if you knew that, just thought i'd make sure.
if there's nothing wrong with you're current trans/transfer, it will be MUCH easier just to swap the motor.

I think I'm just gonna pop my old tcase off the tranny an mate it to my new one once I put it in.
Hopefully someone will want to buy that low mileage JDM tcase

I have a 4runner, so isn't the r150f transmission? Anyway I'm pulling everything and putting in the JDM motor and tranny. PITA either way...

Ok so I got my old engine and tranny out of the 4runner. I disconnected my good t-case and then pulled the engine/tranny as a unit. It wa super easy as I already had the heads pulled from the engine due to a blown head gasket. I'm debating whether to wire in a custom switch ( huh huh custom bro) for the JDM transfer case or use my old one. I've come to the conclusion that the unit back there just fires some sort of pin into the tcase, engaging the 4wd.
Enjoy the pics many more to come.

Looks like the transfer case attatched to the 2000-2001 4runners w/some 5vze they have a push button 4wd and a center diff lock. Im guessing toyota put that transfer into their older rigs before producing them in the us.

That being said they may function similarly. However I am looking for information specific to this unit, which I believe to be a 94 or 95.

Okay guys so I have a new question. Since the JDM engine is a 94 the starter has a different connector on it for the secondary wire coming out of the bottom. If I use my old harness I will have to change the connector on the secondary wire which is okay, but if I do that will my starter still work?

I just wanted to give you guys an update...
I got in a motorcycle accident the day after I got the engine in, and i'm just healthy enough to start working on the yota again. I have the wiring harness run now, and all of the fuel injection system installed. just about ready to put on the upper intake manifold.
looking for a cooling system diagram... possibly in FSM?

Its unfortunate because mechanically this truck is really nice, but now I pretty much want to roll it off a cliff. I came so close...

So it appears that my distributor is off by one tooth, which apparently is fairly easy to do. So the engine want to start now, and it will fire up then die. The unfortunate thing is that I left the radiator cap off and it blew exhaust out so I'm pretty sure the JDM engine I got has a blown head gasket.

that is the same transfer case I got with my diesel swap. It is just an electronic shifter for 4wd. Mine works great and it's actually pretty nice cause I could do a 'cheap' twin stick mod on it by disconnecting the wire that would automatically shift to 4wd when you put it in low. Now I can select 2lo and have to use the 4wd button on the side of the shifter to select 4wd in either lo or hi. Otherwise the transfer case is similar to the v6 chain driven cases.
