Just a question - nice intake? What kinda difference did it make?

Also, how do you like your Borla Catback? I assume it's a custom catback which you probably had made as my understanding suggests Borla never made a catback exhaust system for our trucks, just the 4runners. Is your catback Mandrel bent? Stainless steel or aluminized? What size pipe? What kinda response did you get, etc. ?

Hey, thanks. BIG difference. Sounds really agressive when you get on it too. The combo intake/exhaust gives it killer throttle response.

The exhaust IS a Borla -- stainless, mandrel-bent, 2 1/4 with the Borla tip. I don't have the P/N handy, but I bought it in 2001. It was for all pickups, so the only mod was to cut down the mid-pipe to match the wheelbase. Then I bolted it all together and that was it. Makes lots of low-rpm torque, but I still feel the 3.0 could use 2 1/2 to wake up the top end. Now I want headers! It's addictive.

Hey Truckmike

What I think might help the top end a little is instead of considering headers, replace the pipe that goes from your exhaust manifold to your cat (which from my understanding is 1 7/8" and pressure bent), with a 2" or 2 1/8" mandrel bent pipe. I bet that'll provide a big difference. But at the same time you gotta be careful....what you gain up high you'll probably lose down low. I like the 1750-3200 RPM power band. If my truck takes off at those RPM's I'll be extremely happy.

I never knew Borla made a catback system for the trucks. I'm assuming your muffler is a center intake, right side out? which is the same as one of their Turbo mufflers. I'll see if I can find the system somewhere online.

Do you remember where or who you bought it from?

Thanks

Hey Truckmike, I found the Borla exhaust here for pickups: http://www.performanceproducts4truck...&vehicle=24608

So you're saying that this exhaust is built for the extra cab model, but you had to cut it to fit? I thought the extra cab model with the 6' box was the longest model of these trucks? I'm assuming you have an extra cab (by your picture) with the 6' (about 75" actually) box? Do all the hangers from the exhaust line up properly?

Note the link shows 3 versions of the exhaust.

Yeah, unfortunately, I did. Were you the one who needed a breather? And to answer Coed's question, that's where I bought the Borla.

I shoulda mentioned that the mid pipe was extra long with an O2 bung for those who've nixed their converter. Since I have mine, the pipe needed to be cut.

I've thought of a bigger down pipe -- and the price would be right. But still, I've been told the headers are worth the effort. And all that good stuff like a ported intake, etc., when the time comes.

Oops, I forgot. Yes, it fit perfectly, hangers and all. My only gripe is I wish Borla woulda thrown in some new cat bolts and a gasket. Wouldn't have killed 'em.

Hey Truck mike, just curious if your Borla muffler on your exhaust is a Center in, Right or left side out, or a Center in, center out. Thanks.

I just ran out and checked: centre in, driver's side offset out. Also, the Borla muffler is a fraction of the size of the factory muffler and a featherweight compared to it.

did you fabricate the element-to-vafm adapter? Or did you buy it?

I bought it -- it's from Vibrant Performance. Any speed shop has them, as long as it sells import performance parts.
