Ok guys, here's the deal...

I'm pretty sure that I want to get the toyo open country M/T...
My local tire store can get them by next week for $195 per tire mounted AND balenced, plus I've got a rebate for $60 off all 4...

but now comes the problem... they are listed as 33x13.50x15... the real size once mounted in something like 32.7x14.2x15 according to toyo.

so the issue is, I don't know if the toyo's will fit without rubbing the a-arm...

here are some photos of my current clearance with 33x12.50 MT/R’s... there is a hair more then an inch between the tire and the a-arm.. oh, and rims are 15x10 with 3 5/8" BS...





could I grind the a-arm lip to get more clearance?

so.. what do you guys think? will they fit or should I look for a different tire?

Not sure how valuable this will be considering I'm driving a 3rd gen, but...

There's NO WAY IN HELL my 12.5" wide tires would have cleared the stock a-arms. I went with aftermarket ones from Inland trucks that offer a bit more clearance. My 33s clear the a-arms, but not by much. If your'e talking about running a 13.5" wide tire, you're going to be hard pressed to fit that with stock backspacing.

I'm sure you could grind down the a-arm some, but I'm not sure you'd be able to grind it far enough without some serious concern to long term strength/duraility of the a-arm.

Also, keep in mind that your tires my also rub on the frame - that's not exactly something you can grind down. My tires rub on the frame rails at 3/4 turn and moderate compression.

I think it would be too close for my comfort. Exactly how wide are the tires you have on now? In my opinion, I don't think it would hurt to grind the lip (and maybe a little more) of the A-Arm, like the picture below. I would weld a plate on the side afterwards, just to retain the strength. Doing it like the picture, I really don't see any issues with clearance of the bushings.

right now I'm running 12.5 wide tires on a 15x10(I think) rim with 3 5/8" BS

Well, if the "actual" tire width is 12.5" and your new ones are 14.2", they are going to stick out .85" further to the sides. I would either grind off that lip or install modified A-Arms like jacksonpt mentioned. It's way too close otherwise.

I really dont think it will compromise the strength all that much. but it would be good to get an outside, more knowledgable source than I.
I would grind them down, but dont do it if you dont feel comfortable doing so.

ok... I'm a huge dumbass..... so I don't have 10" rims.. I have 8" ones... the truck came with the rims on, and I didn't know that when you measure rims you measure from the bead seat... so I measured about 10" lip to lip... but according to the tire store rim checker I have 8" bead to bead... thus 15x8..

so that means no toyo's... cause those tires won't fit on a 8".... so I guess I'm gonna just get MT/R's again and be done with it..

Seems like they would fit on 8" rim even if they don't recommend it. I have a 33x12.50 bfg mud mounted on a 7" stock toyota rim for a spare and it seems just fine.
