Heater controls have no back lighting?
Just bought a '94 T4R SR5, 146k miles, lovin it so far, just took it up to the pass (Stevens Pass, Washington) and had some fun in the snow.
Anyway, as my second n00b post of the week, I searched on 'HVAC' to see what I got, but no one seems to be having a problem, so I assume there isnt one...the heater controls dont have backlighting do they? Or are mine just not working?

mine worked when i bought it, stopped working when i had the stereo installed, (but moved back down to school before i noticed) and now work again after tearing the dash apart... so tear the dash apart maybe they will come on for you.

Good to see you joined up, welcome!
My 94 had the same problem, and like Bob mentions, there is a write up in the tech section on how to replace the bulb.
Like I mentioned to you in the PM on the other board, this place has a large amount of info for you and the direction you want to take. Use the search feature as that could be your greatest tool, and be ready to meet some great people.

basically you pull the knobs of the control levers. use a screw drive to pry the face plate off and then remove the long clear plastic piece and you will see the bulb.
Save the little cover on the old bulb to put on the new bulb.

Pull the control handles off and use a bent paper clip to carefully pry the piece off. Insert the L of the clip into the slot where the heating vent is and pull out carefully.

ive got a similar problem. my backlight is cranky. works about 20% of the time. it kicks in or out after a bump, so its most likely a loose connection, ive just had no time to fix it.

Mine is almost the same as bigg_wigg only mine comes on 5% of the time and it doesnt do it when I hit bumps. Its when I change the heater settings. Its not the bulb because I have replaced it. Itendded up being the wires leading to it that where the problem they got pinched somehow. (previous owner didnt know how to install a cd player messed all kinds of things up)
