Hard shifting on decel in 90 4x4 automatic????
its a 90 extended cab 4x4 with the 22re and an auto trans.it bangs through gears on decel.for instance,rolling down a hill and let off the throttle it bangs when it upshifts.when im in the throttle its fine.also bangs from neutral to reverse or vice versa.any advice is appreciated!!

Sounds like the line pressure is too high. Check the Throttle Cable adjustment. Go to this link and scroll to page AT182. It will show you how the cable needs to be adjusted.

If it is out of adjustment, it will fix both. The line pressure is lowered when the throttle is closed to prevent shift shock. It is raised when the throttle is opened to prevent slipping.
If you find the adjustment is correct, I would suspect the pressure regulator in the valve body. That is what the cable connects to.
