I'm thinking about ordering one of these but I won't want it on until spring. OP says the hardware shakes and rattles. That can't be normal. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it noisy at highway speeds? I had a Kayline on my '88 and it didn't rattle although as everyone knows it involved 9,000 screws into the body of the 4Runner.

No problems with mine. Gettin back to the op's question if anyone else had trouble installing it. I didn't. Really simple. On the highway its nice. Has tension straips to get it from flapping. My hardware is solid. Op, when your snapping down the sides go from the rear forward should make it easier.

yeah, I'll try digging it out of my garage. I know it's in the original box and that the box is still in there.

i have my instructions for my topper - '88 4runner.

it's double sided.

i scanned the documents that i received from softopper...

you can download from here:

please don't bookmark the above as i'll prob take the file down in a few days.

please take note that the file is just shy of 40mb as i scanned at 200dpi and my "originals" weren't in that good of a condition - the reason i scanned at a slightly higher res.

maybe someone can host it here on YT???

I'm two seconds away from ordering one myself...

How is the abrasion resistance? I live in AZ and the brush is nasty - everything has either quills, spines, or thorns. Does anyone consider their's 'trail tested'?

Granville - what rack model number is that from Thule? Just a universal clamped fit? Thats perfect!
