Good bye stripes

So heres what i did today.

Went to napa and got a 3m stripe off wheel ($40)

Well i didnt get and pics of me using it but its just like a big eraser.

Just be careful not to stay in one spot for too long.

After 2 hours or so, i ended up with this. I only did the driver side and the back.

I am kinda bummed that the paint is faided but you cant really tell unless you are up close.

Ill get some moar pics tomorrow when i finish.

Thanks.

Anyone have any suggestions of what to use to help get that remaining glue crap off the back?

some buffing compound should work. if not try goo-gone or road tar and bug remover.

So i tried goo gone, and some buffing compound, looks like that stuff is the primer and not the left over glue.

Maybe ill just paint the emblems to kinda match the truck and throw em back on with some automotive 2 sided tape.

Oh man, that looks awesome. I wish I would have known about that wheel. I used a hair dryer and some adhesive remover and it took a long time. Good job!

Iused laquer thinner and it comes off with some elbow grease.I tried Goo gone and some contracter top notch style goo gone and it didn't even faze it. The laquer thinner did not hurt the paint what so ever.

So i finished up removing the stripes off the other side this mornin.

It looks like i got a new paint job. Its so clean and not out dated now.

On to the pics.

Just finished and there is alot of eraser and old stripe crap everywhere, it wipes off with a soft towel tho.

Cleaned up, but still the crap on the ground

All waxed up

So if you want to remove the old stripes off your truck, go for it, there will be some paint fade but you cant really tell unless you are looking for it.

Thanks for posting this. I have been wondering how to get those off, so I haven't even tried, but mine are all faded different colors and cracking, and collecting wax.
