Freeze12 / Oring question
87 4Runner 22RE 4WD 5Speed
AC already converted from R12 to 134a by previous owner but never worked well at all. I have AC system apart for complete overhaul and decided to go with Freeze-12 but never having used it I have a question. Because Freeze-12 is about 3/4 134a anyway should I use the 134a (green) ORings?

Already had the orings here. With all the kids still at home and 7 used vehicles to keep up I keep AC stuff around out of necessity. Thankfully last one starting third year of college this fall so nearing the end of that drain.
I almost went back to 134a because I have 30lb cylinder of that here, but decided to try the Freeze-12 instead. I removed EVERYTHING, cleaned & flushed evaporator and all lines, replaced condenser, expansion valve and dryer. Added oil and pulled vacuum yesterday evening. Everything held with no leaks but because need certificate for FR-12 purchase I will have to take to AC shop Monday for them to add the FR-12.
I've never had any dealings with FR-12 and anxious to see how well it performs in the original R-12 system.

I'd have to call b/s, windows down at highway speeds creates more drag, and therefore decreases mpg. I had the top off my first gen and got a horrible 13 mpg vs. the normal 18 with the top on, im sure when I get my a/c goin my mpg will be closer to 20, cuz i roll windows down all day....

The reason I changed the expansion valve is the bugger is buried under the dash on the evaporator and while I had that out cleaning and flushing I thought it would be a good time to replace the expansion valve as well.
NOW... should I have done this... because when I put the system back together and pulled the vac everything went down and held with pump off for over an hour. I then took the unit to have it charged and it is cooling well but should be better. The high side pressure is also way too high and condenser was getting too hot. I took water hose and ran over condenser and high side dropped real nice. I looked on the front side of the radiator and low and behold it had mud all over it on the engine side, especially at the bottom so I took the hose and cleaned it so air could pass through to the condenser and high side pressure dopped but still too high so I'm wondering if something isn't blocked and I'm thinking about the new expansion valve I've put on. Right now though the project is at a stand still until I get some time, hopefully this weekend to get back to it.
Dennis
BTW, How are you coming with your conversion???
