Frame Bent (pics)

Can I just bend this hook back? The hook and frame are pretty bent in and upward. I figure a rubber hammer could do it, but i dont want to ruin anything...

I would like to take this off as well...but the bolt may be messed up...
what can i do about that?
thanks
-mike

Is that your tow hook? Got a pic from the side?

How did you bend it that bad?

Rubber hammer will not bend it back! Is this for real? If yes, that hook needs replacing and you need to slow down when using it. LOL

not only will a rubber hammer not do it, a 3 lb hammer wont, and an 8lb sledge MIGHT bend it back if you could get a good enough swing behind it.

At any rate deformation like that to a frame at a mount point isnt a good thing. Pull the hook (if you can) beat it flat, and put a gusset on it.

its not from pulling...its from slamming down on it when crossing ruts...
i havent used it, i just want to get it back straight and put a gusset on it.
then maybe i could weld a d ring on

To bend it back properly...try using someones winch or buy a ratcheting load binder.

Ah thats no problem, infact I just got finished rebending by crossmember back into shape (head on collision). The job was simple:
1. Go to the telephone pole
2. Wrap chain around frame
3. Wrap other end of chain around telephone pole
4. You see where this is going....
5. Laugh ass off as everyone looks at you in disbelief (7-11 parking lot)
6. Repeat until the job is done!
