Good question. Probably from '96, but if I change the vehicle registration address to one in a Change of Ownership smog program area it will be exempt from emission testing until I sell the vehicle. Just so happens my wife's parents own a residence in June Lake which is in such an area (Mono County).

sweet cadman...i hear the smog tests in cali are very difficult to pass and expensive.
