Driveline Vibration, Third Member?
My 94 xtra cab has a bad vibration at about 55 mph on the highway. I would describe it as the same as the feeling of having an unbalanced tire without the input to the steering wheel. Now the obvious here would be a u-joint (long wb has split d-shaft) but they feel tight to the hands. Now, what doesn't feel tight is the third member. It has tons of play, and seems to occasionally make erratic noises when you let the clutch out in certain situations.
Could a worn out/ loose gear or pinion cause vibration like this?
Also, the transfer case side feels like it has some play but I doubt that would cause it.
Anyone have any input?
