Great writeup
I'm planning on doing all this and more to my 95 runner in the next month or so. I will do the shocks and wheel bearings while i'm in there. I may even rebuild the steering box too. I would like to put new tires on mine but I guess it will depend on funds availability. I was thinking of doing a writeup also. If you and Scuba can do it so can Hup

Hey superbleeder,
I thought your front end writeup was great! I decided to do my SAS when I am out in Utah for the summer. I have a full garage with welder and all that. My home here in California is not set up to take on a swap. By the end of May I will have all of this IFS for sale. This includes new Energy Suspension sway arm bushings as well as all the IFS crap and rancho shocks.
I will keep you posted if you are interested.

That and after all the above repair/replace there was still a horrible clunking sound. Turns out it is the upper AND lower control arm bushings. I figured, eh, may as well SAS the damn thing.
My idea was to buy a 1st gen and do a complete build and keep my 94 as a hunting/DD rig. After some thought I decided to abandon the 1st gen idea till later and just do up the 94.

Thats what I was thinking.....lol. Just giving a hard time! Like I said, great write up. I'm calling dibs on the Rancho's.....NOW!!!!!!!

The Ranchos are not even a year old, if you want em 4runnnerfreak they are yours!
I also put new Pro Comp shocks in the rear at the same time. Those are coming off too.

wow this is great...ill be sure to follow this...with my pickup my shocks and ball joints in the front are goin out so i think it is time to replace all of them....i was goin to go ahead and run a ball joint spacer since i will already have everything apart. but the only question i had is what kind of shock should i get with a 2 in ball joint lift. if anyone has an answer id greatly appretiate it. Thanks ;p

Just an FYI about those Chassis 1 parts; they're available on e-Bay & they suck. I bought some because of the great deal &, even though they were a "deal" they were much weaker than even the autozone duralast parts I had to buy to replace the two lame lower ball joints I received. They're known by their paper thin boots, lighter construction, mild steel, over drilled zerk holes & the list goes on.
Do yourself a huge favor & just buy the Toyota OEM parts...those e-Bay specials fit but are far too weak for a truck.

i was thinking about getting a ball joint spacer when i redo all my ball joints (killing my new tires

I have had quite a few different brands of shocks. And I think at this point I can make a reasonable opinion what is good and what is not so good. This of course is based on what kind of wheeling I do. I do LOTS of off road logging road trail rig wheeling. Some rock crawling but nothing too extreme. I think the Bilstein shock is the best. It is the most comfortable shock I have come across.
