i did a EFI conversion on the 4runner a while ago, and it consisted of a 86 truck harness, 89-95? upper and lower intake/throttle body, and 85-88 air flow meter (metal filter housing) right now my cold idle is right at 2k, which IMO is a little high, i would like to see it around 12-1500, hot idle is around 700-900, i understand that the coolant lines that go to the TB affect a air bypass, which closes when it gets warmer and restricts air from bypassing the TB, my question is could i "adjust" the max opening of the valve to set cold idle speed, Ive never had one of these apart, so I'm not sure how they work exactly, i figured that id ask here before taking it apart to find out i cant change it, thanks, Joe

Pretty sure its got an adjustment screw on the air bypass thing below the throttle body... I remember seeing something like that in my FSM, but i dont remember what the screw adjusted, seems like cold idle would be about right... try lookin in a FSM at that air bypass and see what it says.

The adjustment nut (7mm) is on the back auxiliary air valve itself. Best way to get to the adjustment nut is to remove the 2 mounting screws and pull the valve forward a bit. It'll take a few "morning adjustments" to get it set to where you want. I have mine adjusted to 1250 rpms on regular mornings and 1500 on very cold mornings.

Wow, that's different. Toyota must have incorporated it in the throttle body starting in 86. I thought it was the same setup from 84-88. Glad you figured it out.
