the rear main for the tranny is about 7 bucks. i should of specfied that..
make sure you have the flywheel resurfaced..
use a paint marker and make a mark or scribe line so there wont be any out balance issues..
there is a trick to getting the bearing out of the crank with using spit wads and a punchand hammer.. so replace piolit bearing and throw out bearing too.
get a good clucth too.. and make sure you get a clutch alinment tool.
make sure you torques flywheel to the correct ft lbs and the clutch aswell.
if you have hyanes manual it will show you how to take the real main seal out of the engine
ok i just looked on autozone they are showing a rear main seal for about 13.99 or so.. they rest of the fees are labor fees of 60 dollars and higher.. and all those other ripp off fee's too..

yes that is true.. but make sure you bleed all the air out with a vacum.. ther is no other way with this clucth.. i fought and fought.. my clucth in my 82 pickup..for weeks it seemed like. Until took my cheap a$$ down to harbor frieght tools and bought a hand opreated vacum for 30 bucks and had the job done in a matter of minutes.. i took my longer to drive to the tool store and back to my house than it actually took to bleed the air out of my clutch line..

Gnarls,on your trip from ca. did you have the gear not engaging problem(shift into 4th,rpms go up but no speed gain)? Mine will "find" 4th after spassing out, rpms go down and Im gaining speed again and by then Im grabbing 5th.

RPM's going up but no speed gain is definitely the clutch slipping, especially if it's happening in fourth because 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio with the engine. You probably just need a new clutch kit and you'll be good to go.

I think they were saying that the pedal might need to be adjusted out about a quarter turn or so because if the pedal is always a little engaged that would cause it to slip.

It doesn't bother me much anymore because I let the truck warm up a lot when it's that cold.

Thats what I do Duperman every time I let it warm up 5 to 10 mins.I did alot of driving today and 4th gear never spassed out.Im thinking extreme cold plays a part and possibly what Gnarls suggested.Ive got into the habit of running thru all the gears while warming it up.Which might do absolutely nothing, lol.
