Clutch fork ?
I just swapped trannys in my truck i'm building. I had a hard time getting the tranny to line up,but i finally got it in. Before i tightened everything down i checked the fork for the clutch and it just doesnt feel right whne i push it. And doesnt spring back. Push it in and it stays there. I checked the tranny i took out it goes back in place when you push the fork but its also not bolted up to a motor. Does it sound like something let go wiht the fork maybe when i was putting the tranny in? Should i take it back out and check it?

Did you make sure that the release bearing was clipped securely to the fork?
Also, it could be a hydraulic issue. Did you check your clutch master for fluid? Also take a look at your clutch release cyl, you could just have to bleed the system and refill it.

I got it figured out, but thanks. Theres no body on the truck right now. It felt loose to me i dont know much about clutches and trannys, but once i bolted the slave cylinder on it was fine.

Now i just found out the tranny mounts are different between the w56 and g58. Everything i read about swapping these trannys and never read that anywhere lol. Hopeing if i soak the crossmember bolts for a few days might be able to jsut swap them instead of taking the tranny out again.

did you have to cut up your floor? cut it front or back of the stock floor hole? was it a w56b top shift? I'm finding a lot of w56bs for sale and wanted to do the same swap..

I havent put the body on it yet but the stock floor holes were the exact same when i measured. Yes its the top shift. I only plaaned on swapping cabs but it turned into alot bigger job where the 91 had the add setup and g58 and the 90 had the w56 and manuel hubs on the front. I still have to change the front diffs out.

why go through all that work of changing diffs? slap on a pair of manual hubs and disable the vacuum actuator so that its in 4wd and then you can control it with the hubs and transfer-case

Thats what i wanted to do but someone on here told me that that wouldnt work you had to do something inside it so it was easier to swap diffs.

so your swapping the cab, trans, xcase, diff from the 90 to the 91? Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the w56 from a 90 a "c" forward shift?
On a side note smithy is correct. You don't even have to remove the diff from the add vehicle in order to disable the vacuum actuator. just pull out the actuator and use a hose clamp to lock the fork in place. install the manual hubs. and done. I scored a 4.56 ifs diff so thats what i did. but if you already swapped the diffs then nevermind

Yeah i'm swapping the cab, trans, tcase, and front diff from the 90 to the 91. All i know is the trans is a w56 i didnt know there were different models. I just assumned it was top shift since both the shifters are on the top of it lol.
I started to take the diff out of one but the axle bolts are being a pain so its just kind off hanging there. I would sooner bolt it back up and leave the add one in if i can. What do i put the hose clamp on? I've never tore into the front diffs on these.
