Cluster board switch
I have a 1987 Toyota 4x4 5 speed. That has no rpm cluster. I was wondering what would it require to switch clusters boards? Take mine out and put a cluster board that has a rpm cluster.

You're looking for the "SR5 cluster" Lots of good guides out there.
2 things though, you'll have to run the line for the tachometer and you'll have to replace the oil pressure sender. Both are easy.

That's a good guide. It's for the 89-95 cluster but it all works the same.
They go anywhere from 75 bucks to 200 for a real nice one. Just make sure you swap that oil sender first.

you run the tach wire from the negative wire on the ignition coil to the "P" screw in the back of the cluster panel on the tach side. If you're truck is running a 22RE then you might have to adjust the resistance on the tach using a multimeter.

^^^^Ten pages of results. Have fun reading. To get the cluster check eBay or contact a seller on here. You can use one out of a 22RE 84-89 4Runner or 84-88 pickup. As someone said you have to run a little wire to the back of the cluster for a 22R. You can even use one from a 3.0 6 cylinder but it will require recalibrating it.
