Building a sleeping platform...

It is heavy. But I am used to always having lots of weight in my truck. I may end up fastening it to the floor somehow. But for now it is very well trapped by the roll bar. We'll see. I also have an additional board that folds out over the rear seats to make a flat sleeping area.

I am guessing that it weighs about 100 lbs. empty. I have also incorporated an inverter that is wired into a pair of flush mounted outlets. There are also flush mounted tie downs. I have to give credit to skyrat since I am copying a lot of his ideas. I will be installing paddle latches on the drawer fronts like skyrat did.

More pictures. It is done now all but the maroon carpet on top.
This is the part of the platform that goes over the rear seats. It folds up for storage.
Here it is all laid out flat.
Here is the support for the front platform.
Here are the drawers with the rear seats up. The rollbar fits on into the side slots. I am repainting it now. Maybe by tomorrow I will have pictures of it with carpet and the rollbar on.

I am going to the marlin crawler roundup for it's debut. I have a few other projects to get done before I leave. I am glad you like what I have done. So far I am very pleased with it.

Very cool. And fine craftsmanmanship. Thank you for sharing.
Just want to confirm -- you're not keeping/removing anything in those side pockets that you might possibly need (like recovery tools) though, right?

Ya I was kinda wondering about those side drawers as well, but that makes sense now haha. I take the marlin crawler event is out in the western part of the country?

Here is the finshed product. Got the carpet on yesterday and stained the drawer faces with a coat of polyurethane for protection.
And this is a drawing I did with some dimensions.

Not that you would very often but how long does it take to remove from the bed?do you store the fold out in the rig or garage?
Looks great. Been thinking of a fenderwell height one in my 2nd gen.
