Brake light barely on, it's dim, I did search and read, but...

So at night, recently, my brake light glows, and I guess it does it in the day time too, but I can't see it. It goes out within 5 miles of driving.

I have read 8 or so threads about brake lights and they all say, your fluid is low.

I checked, and filled it to just above the MAX point, no change.

My fluid is nearly opaque and kinda brown, so I will change out the fluid and check pads and drums, but I just wanted to know if it could be anything else, besides a bad fluid guage. Or, is the brown fluid not as dense and the guage is the float sinking in it?

I believe that is what he's talking about... The E-brake light is the only light regarding brakes besides ABS. I've got the same issue. I read somewhere that it could be warped rotors... Funny thing is that I do mostly engine braking... so I don't know why it'd do it after all this time.

Try that. If that doesn't do it, check the wiring on the ebrake handle. The contacts on mine were ever-so-slightly bent, and the light stayed on very dim - much like your's.

I will look at the ebrake switch, but if I even slightly pull on the handle, the light goes on full brightness. I will try the sensor, if that is the problem, I know a pick and pull lot with a 22re truck to get it from.
Thanks
