!987 4runner

Hi guys, I just picked this Red 4runner base model gem up due to a need for a rear seat . Only picture i took at the time. Anyways, I picked this up from an original owner from the day he bought day. He stated that he added rears seats which were never there from the start which i need, but there's a piece of metal that matches the color of the truck which i don't know where it goes that's in the back. It's squarish and has to arm brackets to bolt somewhere? Ill add picture tomorrow. I'm still learning on this 4runners. I had a pickup before but due to unexpected circumstances, i need some rear seats.

Good find! Post some pics so we can see what you have in front of you. Do the seats work? My rear seats look like they had been added after-factory, too, but velour match front and back.

Sounds like your truck has the rare "rear seat delete" option, which give you that metal piece to go the rear seat hump. I guess it gives you more of a flat bed area to use more like a pickup truck. I think the seats have to be out for you to be able to use that metal piece, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

+1
The finish and poor precision on the seat brackets and seat parts on mine do not reflect Japanese quality. Probably made in some contractor shop here in the U.S.A.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Any damage? Did they take anything? I've been considering LoJack or the SPOT Trace but those only provide tracking, no alarm or notice of break in.

Sucks.
Did they break in to steal it or to steal things out of it?
People break into cars either to steal it, steal something inside, or just to vandalize.
One thing we can do to help prevent is keep things out of sight. It doesn't take a professional to break windows to steal valuable/attractive things like a nice toolbox in plain sight. Solutio. I'm working on is tools organised in pouches and stashed inside body compartment.
Yes, tracking device wud be nice, too, if vehicle actually gets stolen. Gotta research that.

that rear seat delete panel is, like mentioned above, super rare. although not very pricey when placed up for sale, unfortunately. Most people threw them out to install factory or aftermarket seats. Id love to get my hands on one, just to have.

So here's the pictures i got for the metal pieces that been sitting in the back. On top of that i guess the previous owner put in different grey rear panels but i have the original ones still and the seats are not aftermarket, its Toyota. Looks like they were never sat on. Well, another note, Ive got an alarm going into my 4runner today. I don't know why the quality looks like this on my phone.

That's one of the nicer rear seat deletes I have seen. There are a couple different ones but yours looks like it matches the rolls in the rear floor. Please don't throw it away if you put seats in. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that would like to have it. Great looking truck btw

Another question. So i did a short shift kit with the marlin crawler and now when i drive it sounds like something grinding in the transmission. Anyone experiencing this?

No damage but they stole my spare magazine for my 1911, change and my battery..... Lucky i wasn't there when they were doing this other wise there would be a inanimate body in the empty stall at the end of the day .

What do you mean by "work"? They fold and hide like they should. Has toyota on them.
