And I thought that might be the case too, but I've checked the timing several times as well and it seems to be dead on. I've even tried the old-school method of twisting the distrubutor back and forth slowly while cranking and nothing has changed.

Are you're shorting out the TE1 and E1 terminals in the diag connecter in order to get it running?

No. Isn't that just used to check the engine trouble codes? How will that help it run?

are you using a timing light? something that may show which way you are out?

accurately setting ignition timing requries putting the ECU into a 'fail-safe' mode by jumpering the connectors mentioned above

I've tried that too. I'm not convinced that it's timing. Obviously, that timing light on a cranking engine isn't ideal, but it did show #1 sparking on 0 degrees.

ah... That I did not know. That may explain why it jumped around a bit.

Odd though, none of my info said to jumper the diagnostic port to check timing. I've had to do it on other vehicles, but This one didn't tell me to do that. I'll try it though. Anything if it means this thing'll run...
