86 4runner front bumper paint

Hello, I'm new here on the forum, but I've been lurking for awhile. I drive a 1986 4runner, and the black paint on the front bumper has really started to flake badly in the last couple years. I'd like to sand and repaint it, but I'm not sure what type of paint I should use. Is there a particular type of paint for this part, or should I just go and buy some flat black spray paint?

Just sand it and spray paint it.

I literally just did this on the exact same truck, i just flaked off the rest of the paint, sanded it a bit, than painted it with Rustoleum flat black (not the spray can) with a foam brush.

Rustoleum satin black, roughed up the chrome, and sprayed like 3 coats. No primer. Around the headlights is gloss charcoal grey btw.

Wow that looks really nice 2door, I think I will try that. While I'm on the subject of paint, is there a good touch up product for rock chips/scratches?
Thank you for all the replies!

I have never seen anything that actually worked. Best bet would be to just leave them. Adds character

I would recommend flat black spray paint for one reason, and one reason only. It is really easy to touch up. If you scratch it out in the woods, scrape it, whatever. A quick shake and a spray and it's good as new again. Satin or gloss paint would require a whole bunch of work so that you would't see that you obviously touched that spot up.

Actually for the touch up stuff I was referring to the hood and fenders (white), sorry I wasn't clear on that. Yeah I usually don't care if the bumper gets a little scuffed, that's what its for .
