85 4runner timing on 22re... too far advanced.
Please feel free to bump.
I did look around and didn't see my specific issue.
I remember one of the posts from another person said this could be the TPS, but I wanted everyone's input on this.
I have an 85 4runner with IFS and 22re... It's pretty much an 86, anyway I rebuilt the engine a few years ago when I redid my timing kit.
it seems that the idle is a bit high and also I can't seem to get the timing to set correctly, if I have it at 10* BTC it runs terrible and seems to run on only 1 or 2 cylinders. it chokes and dies when it gets to running temp.
when it's idling and cold it seems to do ok.
so when it was warm and giving fits I changed my timing so my dizzy was right in the middle.
I got it running again and all seemed well until I checked the timing and it was at 38* BTC
Like I said before I think it could be the tps, but could it also be the head's timing being 1 link off on the head?
I just haven't had time to run through diagnosing the ohms on the TPS.
it's hard to find the time while working and going to school.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance.

I found it.
Ok, So I was just being a baby and not wanting to test the tps.
and the TPS ended up being the issue here.
So I cleaned out the tps with some a skosh of carb cleaner and a shot of brake cleaner with a blast of air to dry everything up all nice.
I put it back on with some hex head bolts and they worked like a champ.
Sorry for putting up a lame post.
