yeah thats true but i already have my dual cases. is the stock 5speed with a 4.3 strong enough? idk maybe ill scrap the supercharger idea and just build the motor a bit i want about 250hp and torque out of it. everything is being re built from the ground up including a ext cab swap drive train lift for a flat under belly. and a some super beefy axles and ARBs

i dont know mutch about the 5 speeds found behind the 4.3 stock. you maynot be able to get an adaptor for that trans to the toyota t-case. i know you can get 4.3 to toyota 5speed or t350/700r4 to toyota t-case. if you want to run a toyota 5speed i would recommend the v6 5speed. i have a few freinds that have gone through multiple 4cylinder 5speeds when mated to the 4.3. or the rare turbo 5speed

you may lose alittle but you gain a tourqe converter and unbeatable mudding and hill climbing ability. Just stand on it and let the trans do the work for you. almost every truck that competes in top truck challenge runs an auto for a reason

t400 is a good trans too its the big brother to the t350, i think its alittle overkill for a 4.3. you could also get into the 4l60e and 4l80e newer trans. this is the (problem) with chevy you have too many options.lol. the t350 are dirt cheap and dont require electroinics, the 700r4 has the lower 1st and over drive for the highway its what i would recomend,t400 is overkill imo,and the 4l's are complicated and expensive

Man, if you're gonna go all out, then go for the v-8. Think about it. 250hp is a pretty stout built v-6. OR a very mildly built v-8. What if you spend all this money on conversion and engine work (porting, cam, intake) only to think if i had 300hp this truck would rule. Especially if you're frame deep in mud on 39's, that v6 is gonna feel like a 22r again.
If you're gonna get some bad ass axles then get a bad ass powerplant to make a bad ass truck.
My .02
Also with an auto trans, consider the torque converter to be a torque multiplier. With interchangable stall speeds you can set your stall at the peak torque of your motor and apply that amout of torque from a standstill. Better then double clutching and downshifting all while losing momentum or a solid footing on a rock.
Yes you lose a little bit of power but at the expense of better control of the power you have.
Just putting out the options for ya. Good luck.
