22R fuel pump
I need help! I have an '87 4WD pickup with the 22R engine and I want to upgrade to an electric fuel pump, but I don't know which one would work with my engine. The diaphram in the factory mechanical fuel pump keeps breaking and leaking oil through the breather holes due to the low temperatures here in NM in the winter. I'm sick of replacing them(it's on the 3rd one) and I need a better alternative. What I want to know is what sort of low pressure electric fuel pump would work with the 22R(or at least the pressure of the mechanical one so maybe I could find a regulator) , how I would hook it up, and anything else that I would need to do(wiring, fuel return line, ect).

My buddy just put one in his jeep. You will need a presure regulator and the pump. Most if not all electric pumps have a bypass in them so they can take full back presure. I would say anyone will work. You don't need much presure though, 2psi....

What would be a good brand of pump though? I'm pretty unfamiliar with electric pumps. Also, how would I wire it so that way it turns on only when I need it to(engine running) and not turn on when i don't(ignition on, but truck not started)? I don't want to turn on the ignition for a few seconds and have the pump flood the engine.
