22R-E head replacement. Where does this bracket go?
Hello all, looking for a little assistance here. I took the head off my '92 about a year ago, due to a new job and relocation/living in a duplex, the Toyota project had been on hold for quite a while.
It's going back together now (rather smooth for the most part). Anyway, this brack is sitting on the bench and I cannot figure out where it goes.
I've looked at a 4runner (with A/C, which I don't have) w/a 22R-E and didn't see it.
Anyone know where it goes?

Thats funny. I read the title of this thread and I thought, "I bet I know exactly which braket he is talking about" sure enough, there it is. That is a tricky bracket to figure out how to put back on. As veiwed from your picture the bracket is upside down. As shown in the picture the hole on the right goes on the back of the power steering pump. The bolt you have in the middle connects to another bracket that goes to the front of the power steering pump. The hole on the left side of the picture bolts into the block a few inches in front of the dipstick tube. Its hard to explain and I tried to take a picture of the installed braket but I can't figure out how to put the picture on the thread here. The picture doesn't really show much anyway, as it is in a crowded area of the engine.

As soon as I get my two year old off to bed, I'll go see if I can figure it out.
I was assuming it supported accessorys some how as it is the same style of bracket as everything else in that area.
Thanks for the quick replies

Actually let me clearify something now that I took another look at it. The right side of your bracket as veiwed on your picture does not actually touch the power steering pump directly, but it bolts onto the back of the power steering bracket. The power steering pump has its own bracket, and the bracket you pictured gets bolted to the power steering bracket. That one bolt will go through the bracket pictured, then through the power steering pump bracket, then into the power steering pump itself. I hope I am not confusing you.

Rustypigeon and 4Crawler, excellent! I couldn't ask for better help.
With your guys' help I was able to install a mystery bracket and eliminate one of a few bolts that were laying in my magnetic tray.
Pretty much the only real challenge left is dist. and timing.
