with the large tires and everyday use i seem to be screwing up rear ends about once a year... is there a toyota 6lug axle that is the same with that is a bigger ring gear etc?

basically, around the 12 month mark i notice that i have slack in the pinion which means that the pinion bearing is starting to collapse or i have somehow crushed the sleeve more than it would normally be due to driving. anyway i am looking for a solution. open to suggestions.

What do you mean by "slack in the pinion"?
Is it rotational or is it up/down/left/right?
I'm sure if either case, something wasn't setup properly.
Talk to Zuk or a driveline shop. I'm sure they could give you a better/more definite answer.

lol, everything was and always is set basically perfectly. paint was beautiful from what i remember, and there was i think, 7 or 8 thousandths backlash.
pinion was tightened to the point of no in or out but could not feel the bearing. we do gears all day and have never had a set come back unless the set was fault or the guy was hopping.

well, have read on pirate that crush sleeves crushing under a load happens from time to time and unfortunately it happens to me about once every year or so. what i am going to try is marlin crawlers solid sleeve. it can't be crushed so hopefully this will be my fix!

Crush sleeves are fine for a dd but don't take trail abuse.
Solid Pinion spacer is the way to go.

but why? with the arb i have to worry about air issues. with the electric i can do it with a dam drill battery. which one is stronger? which one disengages quicker or easier?

have done a little reading but nothing really answers questions. i am also wondering about front springs. i have trail gear 5inch hd springs and am wanting a little bit better ride without losing height. it seams that all-pro's leaf pack is mad up of more small leafs which normally rides and flexes better. will the allpro or even the marlin crawler springs ride better on the road than the trail-gear springs?

The ARB's are worth their weight. You don't find to many bad reviews on an ARB. It is also nice to have an air compressor on board to refill tires and pump up party islands and stuff.....the e-locker is also a 1 time deal cause you have to cut the axle housing.

I have always had a really strange oil pressure gauge reading and am wondering w
What the rest of you have seen. On warm up I have always seen the needle in the middle of the gauge. Once the truck warms up the gauge falls to under the quarter mark and even skimming the bottom of the gauge. This has been the same with every motor and oil pump that has been in this truck. It has had 3 different 3.0s and now has a 3.4. The only thing I am not sure of is the sending unit. I don't know if it has been changed ever.

I know it's outdated info, but actually, years before you posted this thread, I had a similar issue with my 2WD.
It happened right after I took the Rear axle out, and Bolted it back in. The Truck wouldn't go Straight anymore.

The cause: Improperly installed Axle.

This issue is made worse, when you have put '2' Straight Axles in your Truck.
Take the Axles out (all of them), make a straight and True Line for Both Sides of the Truck, and bolt everything back on, STRAIGHT and TRUE.

Should fix it no Prob.
