So to start this off let me first say I did search and actually found an answer but I think I may have another problem.

I have an 86 22r and when it would rain it would stutter and then stall and I would have to wait for 10-30 minutes before it would run again and then I would have to limp it home, in dry weather it always runs like a champ. So I searched and found a couple of threads saying it was the o-ring on the distributor cap or the ECU was getting wet. I checked the ECU and dry as can be. Then I used some RVT silicone to seal around the cap and now when it rains I haven't had a single problem.

This brings me to the new problem. We have over a foot of very dry and powdery snow and every time I start to play in the snow I can play in it for about 10-15 minutes then the truck dies and won't restart (basically the same problem I was having) until I let it sit for 10-30 minutes.

A little more detail the engine compartment fills with snow but that is usually a light coating on the lower part of fender wells and all parts bolted to them. The coil/igniter and distributor cap look clean and dry and again the ECU is staying dry as well.

Any help would be appreciated. I am sitting on 26 acres of untouched play ground and can't do a dang thing about it!!!!!

theres a vent on the cap at the base of it. All it takes is a miniscule amount of moisture to cause a misfire or stutter and no restart. You also may need a new rotor (inside the cap, it spins) as it may not be transmitting as best it should or theres to much space now between it and the leads in the cap itself so it's arcing to water droplets easier than normal.

just a theory.. this is a very weird problem

Sounds to me like it's getting into your air intake, try your air filter make sure she's dry.

When I sealed up the cap I got a new cap and rotor and they have less then 500 miles on them at this point.

The vent is a possibility. I will have go play again and see if there is any water getting in there from the vent.

LOL Sadly it is my inlaws and I don't know how much they would like a bunch of trucks tearing it up and besides I'll do my best at it so by the time anyone could get over here it wouldn't be much fun :-)
