So I've got an 85 4wd pickup and I'm planning on doing ruf soon. I've already got the packs built and ready to go. I'm going to be building my own front spring hanger soon and was thinking about the rear mounts. Can I just use the factory rear mounts or do they have to be moved? I had it in my head that I would need to buy the frame tubes and jigs like all the ifs guys doing SAS but if I don't have to move them then that's money wasted. I appreciate any and all input on this as I'd really like to get started on this soon.

I have a 1985 Xtra cab and I've done a pair of Chevy 63's in the back, I am now starting on the RUF. Have purchased the install kit from TG, and am looking for a good spec for mounting both the drop bar and the rear shackle mounts. Seems like from what I've read that about an inch forward on the front drop bar, and about 2" back on the rear shackle mount. This appears to be due to the fact that the rears from this truck are 3" longer than the fronts TG gives no instruction on the kit, so I'm looking for any actual experience.

I'm running 33's, and with the stock setup, they rub the firewall. Best I understand, the stock rears change the position of the axle and will move it forward about 2 " so this should help with the rub, but I need to get the rear shackle location nailed down before I can locate my rock slider mounts.

If I missed a link on this, let me know. I've found a few general guidelines, but they vary (possibly based on tire size).

I've also been looking into doing the ruf swap, and doing the 63" chevy's in rear. I have a 3" suspension lift on an 85 xtra cab, would this work with my lifted springs?

So the 3" lifted springs are on the front?

No, the lifted springs are not on the front yet I was wondering if I could put them there. basically I want to get five inches of lift out of the front without buying new TG 5"springs. they're rough country springs if that helps...
