Simply put. Your drum brakes will not turn your wheels black with dust. That comes from disc brakes and is not anything a car wash won't remove easily.

Just get a decent, not cheapest ad special set of shoes. Your rear brakes will last years most likely unless you live on a mountain with steep roads or you like to leave your E-brake on while you drive.

I do believe in Toyota parts for some things but definately not shoes or drums. Way too expensive and for what? Its just a drum brake job.

I like Brembo for rotors and drums. Don't get fancy. Do the job (labor) right and you will have no problems. Use some anti-seize on the backing plate friction points. 6 on each side and a little on the adjuster's moving parts.

Why do you think you need drums. Did you go metal on metal or break a spring in there?

I was in the shop getting some locking lugs removed and had them do a brake inspection (rears didn't break at all anymore). Said they were out of specifications to be reused and that I would need new ones.

So they took a drum mic to your drums then. Good. Most people don't own a drum mic.
Still not a big job or anything special.
Get er done.
