chirping sound

91 dlx pickup...bought it about 3 months back now

i hear this slight chirping noise under the truck, its more pronounced when it is cold, it isnt even there when it is warm, im thinking maybe the u joints need to be greased

also im hearing a lot about when at a light ppl getting a clunk when putting it in gear, i have this issue, is this something to do with the u joints, or just a transmission thing? i always just thought it was the syncros worn out in first gear.

If it's a 5 speed, could be throw-out bearing. Have you isolated it to the tranny area? Fan belts chirp too when needing replacement. Good Luck!
