84 pickup with 22r, no spark with new everything
My pickup died on the road about a week ago, no spark. i work at a parts store so its easy just to swap parts and return them if they dont fix the problem. started with the coil, still nothing. started checking fuses and ohming stuff out. pickup coil ohmed out around 150, all fuses were good and i have power at all the fuses, ive got power to the coil and the igniter. decided i would order a dizzy because my vacuum advance is shot anyways, ordered an igniter too, both cheapies off ebay. put them both in and still no spark to the dizzy. the new ignitor seems to have a little bit of ohm differences than the old one. but i noticed the new pickup coil was ohming out around 500, a lot more than the 150 that the old one had. ordered another pickup coil from work, should be here friday. but i really dont think its gonna fix it. dont know where to go next, i seemed to literally have checked everything. any advice would be much appreciated.

tried the GM ecm swap out of a GM HEI dizzy, hooked everything up with a internally resisted coil. the truck started for about 60 seconds, hopped out and grabbed my timing light to set ignition timing and died. now no spark again, timing light only periodically lights up when cranking but always lights up for about 2 flashes when you let off the key, engine sputters and wants to start but it wont since ive let of the key. weird, unless i just burnt out that GM ECM. set the pickup coil clearance on both my old and new dizzys and swapped them out, both give the same result. idk guys anyone run into this before?

I have replaced about 3 ignitors. Got a couple off Ebay and one from pullapart. . That has always been the issue. Actually have an extra riding behind the seat!!

You know how touchy the cops are about seat belts these days...
Sorry, I couldn't resist...

ok so that ebay igniter must have been bad from the get go, never worked with a new coil and dizzy or any combo of the old stuff. i got the gm ignition module to work. you MUST run an unresisted coil, or else it will burn out the module in about 5 minuets or less, found out after burning 2 of them up. after using the unresisted coil its running great. the only thing now is the tachometer does not work. if i could find a wire to hook up to the negative side of the coil im guessing it would work again. any ideas?
