I am planning on running stock YJ rears (with 5 leaves) in the front of my 81. the will give me about .5-1" lift and have positive arch which is what I want with minimal lift they are a direct bolt up after you remove the bushing sleeve and shave some of the bushing since the YJs are 2.5" wide and yota leafs are 2.36" wide but they measure the same

stock Jeep YJ rears 45" long 22.5" front to center pin 22.5" rear to center pin
stock Yota fronts 45" long 22.5" front to center pin 22.5" rear to center pin

here are some really good links with info I found that helped

Thanks for the info. The guy i was talking to told me that the 2" lift BDS springs he has for a YJ are only 43" long. Based on what I read in the links it sounds like he doesn't know how to measure.

yeah pretty much add 2" to what ever the spring is for on the YJ so 2.5" will be about 4.5" I have measured and they only really add 2" more stock YJ rears will give me about 1" max since they are already settled

they measure 45" flat length, but maybe 43 with the arch?

Yeah i suppose 43" with the arch would be about right then, they are brand new springs so i suppose when they settle they should be around 45

Geez, dude! Rears up frone, YJ, ProComp, you've asked about every possible front spring option. As said in other posts, just start trying different configurations and see what happens!

Hey so one more question I haven't found an answer to, what kind of shackles will I need to run? I would prefer to run my stock shackles but I have heard all kinds of differant information pertaining to which shackles I should run. This is the last thing I need to get figured out before I finally make the swap to my new YJ springs.

If you can replace the bushings in the leaf pack and leave out the bushing sleeve you can use your stock shackle or just get the sleeve out and use the YJ stock bushings

interesting stuff.. so once i get some high steer stuff i might be leanin to these springs... from what i was reading though, lots of different answers, the shackles are needed cuz the springs are wider, but also some are saying they are about an inch longer so in that case you might want a longer shackle... but i guess it all depends on how long the springs you end up with are. i wanna see picks though.

Well I think I am going to try and reuse my stock shackle and just take the bushing sleeve out of the new bushings on the YJ springs I got. I am going to have to post some pics on the install.
