transmission lengths
i have a '79 pickup with an L43 trans which is blown. the easiest replacement for me to get is a G52 5 speed from an '84
i did some research and found that the L43 is 20 3/4" long, and the G52 is 25 1/4
is this trans going to be too long for my drive shaft?
i do have a complete parts truck to work from, but its an extra cab so its the wrong shaft
any help would be appreciated

I would just get the shafts done. Trust me, you're going to end up doing it anyway - just get the L52 (and do all the ancillary stuff to make it work), and be done with it.

the main reason i was going to go with the g52 is that its a 5-speed and i can get one with the t-case for $100. i drove the truck all around yesterday and the problem seemed to get better. so right now i am going to consider it driveable.
what mods will i have to do to swap the G52? besides the drive shafts
