Replacing floorboards
Hello all! I'm a (very happy) new owner of a 1982 Trekker. Overall it's in pretty great shape.
Thing is, it needs floorboards. They are kinda rough. Anyone know of a thread or anything about doing this? Any help is much appreciated.

He did a GREAT job there.
But keep in mind that depending on how bad your floorboards are, and whether you just want a patch, or are going for a full restore, you can just cut out the rusted through parts, and weld a piece of sheet metal in their place. Lots of people do that without taking the cab off the truck, and really just cutting out sometimes just a 1'x1' chunk or whatever, and welding in a new sheet of metal there. Doesn't need to be so involved as what he did.

Justin, I just sent you the templates. If you post some pictures, I can give some guidance as to what you might want to do and where to start. I'd have to see pictures of the backside of the rockers, the body mounts and each corner of the cab. It's truly not that difficult to do a full replacement, but then again it depends on how far you want to take this project. In terms of budget, it's relatively inexpensive. I probably have about $350 in materials tied up into my floors and about $100 worth of consumables. But then again, I'm working on a full resto.

If I was new to wrenching and saw your method, I would immediately be very intimidated and completely give up on the idea.
However some other people's work that I've seen...get a grinder and cut out the rust, then weld in a new piece of metal...that I could wrap my head around.
But I'm not sure what his level of competence/confidence is. Confidence is the biggest thing. Competence will come later.

I plan on getting a build thread going for it soon and I'll put up lots of pics. The floor is pretty rough, I think a new pans are going to be the best bet. I'm interested to hear everyone's opinion though.
