mystery dash swich

hey ive seen a few picures of this switch in the first gens in my truck dont seem to do anything its to the right of the steering wheel and just looks like a normal toggle switch with a ruber grommet around it tried searching for what it does but cant find exactly what its for

it looks pretty stock and ive seen it in a few interior pics and videos of diffrent trucks in the first gen, pics suck its dark and what not

looks like an added light switch for off-road/fog lights.
my 82 has 2 lighted switchs on the left side of the collum.
1 of them controls my 5 inch off road lights.
the other switch does nothing.

looks like your lock and tumble is missing.......are you steeling the truck right now......lol.
its a dark pic.....at night.....no key....lol.

lol its there just a shadow , and i have to lighted switches for my front and top of road lights on my lower gauge pod but its in the same place on a few trucks ive seen ill see if i can find links to theres

I do not know what that switch is for but the spot that it is in was for the Over Drive switch originally.

dont know about overdrive .. but I do know that paticular spot was for the throtle/choke cable on the diesel , here in Canada anyway

You are right Slacker. In the USA,when the truck was powered with a diesel motor the choke was installed in that same position.

So the PO probably punched out the hole plug, then put in a toggle. Pull the toggle, follow the wires.
That's the only way to know.
