Cool Hey guys, remember me? xD I need some carb help!

Hey guys, long time no talk... that's my fault though! I posted the add for my yota not to far back...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f108...-clean-180818/

I decided a 2nd time not to be retarded and sell it. ( I won't taunt u guys anymore, sorries about the first 2 times xD) Even though it would be nice to get 3k for it... if it's still worth that much. Since I am keeping it, I would really like to work on it and turn it into something sweeet. But for now, it's running to rich and I cannot figure out what the air/fuel mixture screw needs to be set too... I have looked all over the internet, and as far as I am concerned, their is a difference in the carb settings from an 81 and an 82. I tried the 82 carb settings but it still burns way to rich... I can't seem to figure out how to adjust it correctly... Any help would be greatly appreciated. or even explaining how to adjust it correctly, don't even have to know how many turns out etc... just the correct process. I am considering buying a webber 36/38 carb for it after Christmas... but $400 is a lot to fork out for a broke college kid. Thanks!

Never heard of a weber 36/38...I've heard of a 32/36, 34, and the 38....$400? All you gotta do is look on ebay, way cheaper. I got a brand new 32/36 for $270 shipped (Redline-made in Spain) Check it out

This is why on the factory carbs they put a plug or cap over the adjusting screws so you don't mess with it and possibley never get it right again.... buy an OEM carb and you will be fine... or rebuild the one you got or do whatever you want..... i've usually adjusted them by ear. Adjust the screw all the way in and then adjust it out as little as possible to get the engine running at its best.... you can play with a carb all day long trying to get it right....

A guide on how to adjust the idle speed and mixture screws can be found here:

22R Carburetor FAQ

Seems to be a fairly simple process. Good luck and post your results.

thanks guys! I will look into the guide and let you know what happens. as for the cap that goes over the mixture. i know. It was already removed before I got the truck, so i wasn't the first one to try an adjust it.

Turned the screw all the way in. Can't tell for sure just how good it's running till i take it out on the road for a couple of days. If i need to tweak it, just turn it out 1/4 a turn each time? and for some reason, my fast idle cam doesn't seem to be kicking in, doesn't matter how many time i press in the peddle. If I hold the throttle all the way up and push the butterfly closed, it will stick like it's supposed too... but it doesn't do that if I just push the peddle. Do you guys think i need a new fast idle cam?

Just following what one of you guys said! I adjusted the fuel mixture screw, to all the way in. so now it is pretty fuel efficient, which kinda sucks that I finally fixed it now cuz I am buying a webber 38 in 2-3 weeks... But I will keep you updated on the ongoing project Will post some pics before and after i install the carb, headers, lift kit and tires.
