What year 22r? The 20R head is a popular swap onto the 22r (as long as it's the right year 22r) But doing so in reverse will lower your compression ratio. By how much I don't know. But.... you will have to use the 22r intake manifold and carb. The 20r stuff won't fit it. Exhaust manifold IIRC will though.

im doing so in reverse 20r block 22r head and it looks like it would have less compression but if that an the 22r intake an carb are the only issues id still do it

20r heads will interchange with 81-84 22r heads, 85 heads are closed chamber as well as being shorter by .200" so you can use whichever head you like, but you must use the intake that matches the head, they do not interchange.

I run a 22R with a 20R head currently. It makes a 22R a beast, not to mention the cam I have in the motor. It seems like putting a 22R head on a 20R would reduce the current performance of the motor. Can't say I've ever heard of anyone doing it. If you do decide to do the 22r head on a 20r block, be sure to let us know how it works out.

The 20R head breathes better then any 22R head, why do you want to make this change? I run a modified 20R head on a stroked 22R block and it really produces HP.

show me the flow numbers. that is such a false statement. the intake ports on a 20r are tiny compared to any other 22r head

Reason being for the 22r head on the 20r block was due to a valve gettin hit by a piston when the valve stuck and it broke the guide thats made to the head for the valve
