82 space cab info
Just got back from moab with an 82 space cab. Owner said that he was told they only made a few hundred of them. Havent found much info? I have seen many 86s an up. Wondering if any one knows any about these long space cabs?

Are you positive it's a Toyota?
I know that sounds like a stupid question but I see one older (early '80s I would guess) pickup truck that is clearly factory marked "space cab" around town fairly often.
The truck that I see is definitely a Mazda, I haven't seen more than two before so the owner is right, they certainly are rare.

my guess is that you are referring to a custom cab:
I believe the company that did the conversions was called Fabco or Fabtech something like that in CA.
TrekkerPaul and I went down to look at an '81 or '82 2WD version a couple of months ago, it had been A hack job, plywood floor....
I am pretty sure the "Space Cab" is an Isuzu.

I actually test drove one in '86 when I bought my '86 4runner. Wheelbase was just a bit much for me. Is yours a shortbed?
this long Bed would be like driving a boat:
this one has a slightly different cab extension, where the factory roofline was retained instead of increased for head room
Post up some pics when you get the chance, you can use a free hosting service like photobucket.com
the one that I looked at a couple of months ago was just basically hacked up, didn't mean to imply they all came with plywood floors
I don't think ADD is a member of YT, I know he is on Pirate and a couple of other forums..but he has some nice ones
here is his collection:
I think one was ripped off last year though
here is one that Marlin is rumored to have built as a wheeler:

Those things look like crap, IMHO. There is one for sale in Sweethome, Oregon if anyone wants one.
