22re swap from celica into '80 toy truck
so i picked up a 83 celica GTS. 22re. has anyone put one of these motors in a carbed truck? im wondering about the wiring and i know i have to change out the oil pan and pickup.
any info would be great, my crawler is sputtering out and now i have the solution!

Look up a 22re swap. Wiring-wise it should be the same to adding FI. I think you'll end up needing 6 wires, or something like that. Because its coming from a celica, I'd probably just run new wires, as opposed to keeping the celicas harness. Just less wires to worry with.

The motor will bolt directly in with the expectation of the oil pan and pickup, as you already know. The only time consuming part will be removing the entire harness from the Celica and implementing it into the truck.
If you have the time and the $$$, do it right and rebuild the engine and have the fuel injectors (including the cold start injector) ultra sonically cleaned. Installing a new clutch and front seal on the trans would be wise.
