yes they are ...

20r chain will fit up to /84 . they even have steel back guides .

for those of you with a single chain , whom might want to convert , all you will need to replace are the guide bolts , and the oil pump gear .

one of the engines I built , /84 EFI duel row chain

So you don't need the timing cover off a 20R? I thought engnbldr told me I did, but that would really help if I didn't. I seem to remember that some 22R's were double row, so that would make sense.

it's the same cover !!!

the ONLY differance between covers from 79-84 are the water pumps .. the later has 1 more bolt holding it down .

22r and 20r timing covers are not the same. a 22r has heater by pass connection on the back of the cover on both sides, a 20r only has it on the passenger side, a 22r has en extra hole under the oil pump. I know because i found out the hard way.

ahhh , yeah .. you are correct ..

but they are the same size .. meaning a 20r dbbl chain will fit under a 22r cover , and vise virsa .
