Drives with Yotas: Inside Kevin Costner’s Custom Toyota Tundra

By -

Modded Toyota Tundra is put to the test at Hollywood superstar’s Colorado ranch.

Actor and director Kevin Costner sits high atop the A-list of Hollywood. But this star is much more comfortable behind the wheel of his Toyota Tundra than riding in a limousine. Costner’s custom Toyota Tundra Platinum was on display at this year’s SEMA show. Toyota talked to him about his truck. Turns out that this work horse gets a lot of play time.

When Costner wanted a new rig, he already had designs on the Tundra. “The truck I had my eye on was this Toyota truck,” Costner says. “It met a lot of requirements I had. I needed it to work because I work. I didn’t just want it to look tough, I needed it to be tough.”

Rather than talk about the many virtues of the Tundra, Costner prefers to let the truck speak for itself, showing how his Tundra works in his day-to-day life on his working ranch in Colorado.

Throughout the video posted by The Wheel Network, the actor drives his Tundra throughout the ranch, tending to his cattle, and horses. Using the custom front winch to move logs. The Tundra has been outfitted with custom front and rear bumpers, LED lighting, roof rack, and lifted suspension.

The Tundra met the approval of his wife and three kids. It works well to accommodate his family’s active and outdoorsy lifestyle. The rooftop rack is especially useful, as are the custom built-ins for the storage.

“Everything designed on that truck was to carry a lot, carry the fun stuff.” Costner says. “The toys are all inside and on top.”

And the toys get a lot of use. The Costners fish, go off-road, canoe, raft, camp, hit the beach. This is one fun family! It’s a perfect set-up, and Costner clearly gets a lot of use out of the solid Tundra. Work and play.

“I don’t know how to sell a car, but I know how to buy one,” Costner says. And the actor has found the perfect Yota truck. “This truck goes everywhere I go. It’s everywhere I am.”
