I hope you Toyota rebuild veterans can help me out with this one. I started this rebuild project five years ago. Some delays, distractions and procrastination have taken their toll. I have the engine back together and in the truck. I have many of the wiring harness connectors where they belong but I'm mystified as the where the remaining [photo] five go.

The wires I'm stuck on are the ones that go between the upper and lower induction segments [if that's what they're called].

Just too much time has passed for me to recall where I took them from and my Chilton is about zero help. It's an '86 4WD Pickup with a 22REC motor. HELP!

the yellow one is knock sensor. the white two are for the tranny. the clear one is for the starter. the one with the green wire is your 4wd light.

the blue one is the idle air control valve.
the ring is the ground that attatches up by the intake. (otherwise you cel will be on)

More questions:
1. Where is the mating knock sensor connector located [yellow, first on the left]?
2. The wire from the transmission only has the round connector. Is the oval connector not connected to anything [white, second from the left]?
3. Clear one OK. I got it.
4. Green wire [with connector]; where can I find the mating end?
5. Last one on the right [no connector]; Where is the air control valve located?

It's been too bloody cold in the garage this weekend so I've not been working on it. Now I got me a Salamander and CO detector so I back at it. Maybe I'll get it done to plow snow with soon, eh?

1. Knock sensor is on pass side. Between the oil filter and fuel filter.
2. Yes the other plug is empty.
3. Good.
4. Should be on the pass side of trans. Near or around the white plug.
5. Idle air control valve is located under the intake plenum. But now that i look at that wire more. It might be for the engine coolant temp sensor (notorious for loosing connectors). Just a regular spade connector, which is on top of intake manifold.

Forgot to mention that I can't find the connector for the oil pressure gauge. None of the left overs match the connection on the sender.

well then the one that is missing the connector could very well be the oil pressure gauge sender. ill see if i can find a picture of what it looks like for you...

the ol pressure sender is right below the oil filter. little solenoid with an electrical tab stickin out!

Yup, I know where the sender is located. Thanks for your reply but it's the wire I can't find. Please read the thread and you'll have the full picture including pictures.

I found the end that broke off the green wire. You were correct. It is for the oil pressure sender. Now all I need to do is finger out reattach it.

I have a 1987 4runner, and I put my rebuilt 5 speed tranny in today. I have lost the mate to the white clip in your picture, as well as to the 2 clips on the tranny (reverse lights and 4wd dash light?) no one seems to know what the white clip does, and if it's important. The neutral safety switch has been mentioned a few times, but then negated because I have a 5 speed. Do you or does anyone know what the white clip goes to? Does it hook to both clips on the tranny? Thanks!!!

are you talking abt the big white connector? if so. its for the reverse lights on the tranny. only one side of that plug is used. dont ask why toyota did that, they just did.
