Half Life 2 death match

As a lot on here know, many of us have played Unreal Tournament during the weekend nights here.

There has been talk about getting a Counter Strike game setup too, but I think even a cooler game would be Half Life 2 death match.

There is no team play in it, but one cool thing about the game is when you die you respawn again, unlike in Counter Strike you must wait until the next match begins if you die.
I was wrong...
There is team play...

Pushing K on your keyboard will allow you to talk to your team mates, or if in a deatch match only game, you can talk to everyone.

The only drawback of course is you must buy Half Life 2 which has both Counter Strike Source on it, and the death match part will auto download and update via the Steam client.

It would be cool to get a game going next weekend for those who own this game or intend on getting it.

You get a variety of weapons, and one of them is the gravity gun.
With it you can pick up stuff and throw it at people and then zap it.

Also as in Counter Strike you can import your own custom sprays as seen on the wall in the above pic.

Danny, have you bought this game yet?

That is cool if you can get it Danny.

In Counter Strike you must buy your weapons.
In HL2 DM, you find them just like in other first person shooters.

Gotta tell ya, the missile launcher is rad.
Comes with a red laser you can align up on your targets.

I am not sure if they will make a team death match game or not, but that would be fun too.

But being able to talk to each other in the game with your mic is pretty cool.

I'll try to get a hold of it on Friday. I can also see about setting up a dedicated server if there is an option.

OK, who wants to play Saturday?
I know of a very low ping server.

If there is enough interest in getting some of us to play tomorrow, I can post the server name here.

If ya wanna play, get a microphone too so we can talk during game play.

No one wants to play
Just got done playing on that server with about 8 others, very kick@ss.
<iframe src="http://www.game-monitor.com/server-stat.php?ip=216.176.180.130:27015&text=000000&link =0000ff&back=f0f0f0&border=d0d0d0" width="200" height="210" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

The above app is taken from a game site that monitors all games on the Internet.
This is a live app, and will change values when there are people in the game.

Warning, if you play multiplayer from the server list, you had better have DSL or a cable connection.
The server I am playing on uses custom maps, and each map is around 8 MB to download before you can even get into the game.

If anyone wants to play with one of us hosting, then the stock maps will do, and even those on dial-up can then play.

Going to play today, but I just discovered today that there indeed is team play.
I edited my first post in this thread to reflect that.

My 18 year old son came over last night, and ended up playing the game today, and we saw team death match in the list
Very cool, as I like that much better than plain death match.

I will add a few server IPs to this post later when I find them after firing up the game.
In the mean time, I shot a few vids of my son playing, but the qaulity is poor, as to make a one minute vid with my Sony S70 digicam, it must be on the low setting.

I used Microsoft's XP Movie Maker 2 to stitch the two movies together.
It will give you an idea of the game action.
Just under 6 MB.

For those using the Firefox browser, it will not let you view embedded movies here.
Right click this to save and view, or if you have a good connection it should stream in by clicking the link.

EDIT:
Here are the two servers he played, and are now in my favorites folder for the server.
Both servers have a very low ping.

Omega Squad, The Resistance - HL2 TDM
64.119.0.99:27015

Garage Sale - Los Angeles
64.235.226.196:27015

The above one had low gravity turned on earlier, not sure if will be on all the time or not.

If anyone wants to get together to play later, let me know here and we can pick one of those servers.
If you do not see it in the list in the server list, you can right click in the faves area and add it.

My identity is KingAsus in the game.

I will PM you the info.
I believe you have to use my name from above.
But you should be aware that the "Friends" network with Steam does not work half the time.

I looked up on their forum, and many have said it has problems.

Got you added with no problem, although there were two of you in the list with the exact same info on the Friends network.

Yeah, I tried adding member Drew on the forum here who I often game with, and it can not find him with his username or email.

I read on that forum that the Friends thing is always screwed up, and hardly ever works.

Whoa, try adding me again, as the Friends server just found Drew.
They must be working on the server as I type this.

Jeremy, sorry we did not get a game going.
I got busy last night, and did a lot of work around here today, and only managed to play for about 20 minutes today.

I do want to shoot for sometime next Saturday.
Mid morning, afternoon, does not matter, but I do want to play.

The Omega Squad was down today when I logged on, so I played on this one.
Garage Sale - Los Angeles
64.235.226.196:27015

Low grav was turned on, and it was pretty cool, almost like the low gravity in UT and UT 2004, but not as controlled.

Check out the above server if you get time, they claim zero lag, and I did not get any.

Probably ticked off the neighbors though, as I had the Z680s going pretty good, and the place was shaking from the explosions.

It would be nice if we could get more from the forum into this game.

Sounds good Jeremy.
I am trying to get a friend interested in this server and game too, as he is always on Counter Strike.

Sounds good 93.
But be forwarned, if I frag ya, I'm a gonna tag ya

I think it is funny to tag someone afterward a kill.
Sometimes an enemy will be checking out my tag I leave on a wall when, WHAM!
Got 'em from behind.

It would be cool if we all had mics too so we could communicate.

OK Half Life players.
I will log into the LA Garage server at 12:30 PM PST today.
I will be playing off and on all day and into the night.

Right now my PC is being held captive by my youngest son playing World of Warcraft.

I am nown as KingAsus in the game.
Here again is the server info:

Garage Sale - Los Angeles
64.235.226.196:27015

You can search for it in the server list, or add the IP yourself to the favorites area.
